'Sassy-fras'

My Lexie Lulu...
She's sassy, she's quick, and she's funny... the kind of funny that makes you belly laugh. She imitates people, she uses different voices, she is bossy bossy bossy especially with her daddy...he stands NO CHANCE with four daughters that have bigger-than-life personalities. And she's growing up way too fast. Her daddy nicknamed her 'Sassafras'-- it suits her purrrfectly.

We had hilly streets in San Elijo Hills...not really conducive to the novice bike-rider. Now that we're on 'stable' ground, she's two-wheelin' it around town.

She was sick of waiting for someone to help her. So she took it into her own hands and strapped on her gear & headed out to teach herself. Her favorite pass-time is now riding a two-wheeler.

She doesn't love soccer as much as we thought she would, but it was fun watching her strut around the field (#6) and stand with her arms folded waiting for who-knows-what. She was great at running after the ball, was always on the scene, in the right place at the right time, but mostly yielded to her teammates to go for the big kick--- a confidence thing, I suppose. She announced tonight after her last practice that she's DONE with soccer. Forever. {giggle giggle}. One less thing for me to do!

Our Little Scholar

Brayden was chosen as a 2008-09 National Pop Warner Little Scholar with Academic All-American status. He finished in the top 2% of kids nationwide and proves that you can be balanced and still play football!

Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. This year over 8100 applications were submitted. Approximately 400,000 kids participated nationwide for Pop Warner this year.

The PWLS All-American Program requires a minimum 96% grade point average to apply for All-American status. After the applications have been processed, Pop Warner determines National First Team All-Americans (35 football, 25 cheer per grade - top 1%), National Second Team All-Americans and National Honorable Mention Scholars.

Brayden & Curt attended an awards ceremony in San Diego this summer, and were invited to receive the same honors at the National Ceremony in Orlando.

Apparently Curt does not know how to use my camera.

Congrats, Brayden!

The Bad News Bears...is not how it ended

...We didn't get our happy winning season! Basketball is over!  Hip Hip Hooray!  McKenzie & Monson proudly wore their "Jazz" uniform and no one could be happier than me that the season has come to an end.
Their team struggled....MORE than struggled as they ended up winning only 2 of their 15 games.  The team with the worst record in the league even beat us during the last game!  But I say...hooray, because now we don't have to deal with playoffs.  Although I think McKenzie improved overall and Monson became even more aggressive, if that's possible.  I officially have more respect for the other fellow team moms out there after this basketball season. We're officially done with sports, dance, and piano until WAMU helps us decide if we're staying or leaving...
So I need tips from you photog gurus...why are my pictures so retarded with my VR lens shooting in sport mode?  Should I have been shooting in burst continuous mode so the motion wasn't caught to blur out my shots?  Still a novice....

We're all sported out...

When you schedule a child....you schedule a parent.  We're officially sick of kids' sports...well, at least the taxi part of it.  Three games every Saturday, rarely back to back, so spread throughout the day, sometimes overlapping in different places spread across the valley...even off in far-away Menifee.  But thankfully, two of them...the soccer games... are always right here in San Elijo Hills.  And usually they're quite entertaining to watch.  Kind of sparks my inner-kid and makes me want to join a league myself--sometimes.

McKenzie is on the 'Awesome Pickles'..the goalie extraordinaire!  She's learning the positions and how to be aggressive on the field.  She does really well as a mid-fielder.  All that running and hustling around is good for the kids!  The parents and coach of Kenz' team are a bit...out of control, to say the least.  A lot of yelling and screaming--the poor girls end up crying and feeling defeated half the time.  Sad, but true...haven't won a game yet this season.

Monson is on the 'Blue Cougars'. His coaches are two college guys that just love soccer and used to play for Cal State San Marcos' Cougars.  They are great with the boys and a lot more light-hearted and easy-going than eehmmm {clear throat} others.  Monson isn't afraid of the ball and is known for 'heading' and loves to skid out on the side of his hip...we keep reminding him it's not baseball.  He's a good little player and rotates through every position, except goalie.

...And then the cycle starts all over again.  The little girls keep themselves busy practicing their skills so one day we can taxi them around and watch them run up and down that field.

We're all sported out...We could choose to keep our kids out of sports, but then I'd have one less thing to complain about :).  So I'll put on my happy soccer-mom hat, take pictures, gauk at their cuteness and just live in the moments...even the soccer ones, that will be gone all too soon.  Well, at least until next season when I live in my car to cart the kids to and fro.

Brayden's True Love

Brayden took a year off because of a concussion and Vivie's arrival.

but he's back to living & breathing his true love with the
Pop Warner San Marcos Paladins (Jr. Pee Wee).

They're not winning as much as they'd like this year, but it's not all about the WIN, ya know...

It's about the heart and the sheer love of the game
AND what you put into it...
plus, the uniform colors are kind of spiffy & nice...BYUesque...

This is probably his last year of playing football until HS.
The balance is just too insane with the honors workload & his other 'extras.'
He's making the most of his love 4 days/week, but he's anxious to sleep again
when his life returns to a 'normal' schedule--whatever that is these days.

Way to put your whole heart into your 'love,' Bray!
