Now that's my style!

I was thinking that maybe, just maybe I could get excited about Halloween this year for the sake of my kids.  I don't know what has happened to me over the years that has made me so anti....so less than excited about the darkness of the holiday and the logic of Halloween in general. But I am turning a new leaf...mostly because my kids love it, so why shouldn't I at least try... or at the very least fake-it?

I am co-room mom for McKenzie's class and so I bought a Halloween tee from Target in anticipation the 4th grade party.  Now, that's progress!

And I even tried to find a spooky tree to spiff up my fall decor---they were all ugly and less than spooky, with not an ounce of charm.  I'm probably just too late in the season.   I do love the new feather wreaths that are all over...especially the one at PB...but on a black front door?  Doesn't work.  And then, looking through my regular blogs yesterday,

 I found it.

The mother of all Halloween decor....  If I am going to decorate for Halloween, it will look something like this:

a pumpkin carriage... fit for a princess.

I have a lot of those princesses at my house and so this fits perfectly.  And I LOVE the mice sitting there having a tea party!  I have just a few of those in my garage---hmmmm...You just wait.  If we are all so lucky I will make one and post it.  But if you want to beat me to the punch, here's the inspiration!  Now this gets me excited about pumpkins and Halloween.

We'll get you to the "dark" side yet, Shay.
Good for you. I saw a bunch of elegant Victorian/gothic types of Halloweeny things on the internet recently. Totally something you could rock. You know, it's not all skulls with glowing eyes and skeleton ladles with the punch bowl.

You need to hit the Martha Stewart aisle at Michaels with all her great Halloween ideas...maybe that will change your mind. Come on...what's wrong with a few monsters? Halloween is FABULOUS!!! (Yes, I am one of those Halloween lovers.)

Maybe I should post a picture of me dressed up as Cyndi Lauper last year (my hair was SO red and my fake eyelashes were SO long!). It might not make you like Halloween anymore than you do, but it will for sure give you a good giggle!

I am not into the dark stuff but I love, love Halloween! I love the colors, the candles, pumpkins, etc. There are always so many cute ideas to copy! My kids can't wait each year to get the decorations out! They do not like going to my sis in laws where there are dead people hanging from the ceiling!! We do not go that route. Have fun, check out Country Living...they always have cute ideas!

I know, right? I saw that carriage and I would die to try it. How chic. Are you really going to try it? I should, too!

Thanks for the camera tips. I'm still pondering. Whatever will I do?

Dwell in the fanciful bright side of dressing up, playing like a princess, being someone silly for the day - get out of touch with reality - for some of us (me) it's easier than one my think! Pin colorful feathers in your hair and just have fun all day and eat chocolate, dance and sing funny songs, short sheet all your kids beds. Paint your nails a bright purple and lips to match glitter your eye lids. Put orange food coloring in your milk and us licorice for staws.I can see I'd better come down and help!
