Chickens aren't just for eating

Ah, the dawning of realization. Recently when Josie began referring to our dinner as the "darling little animal that was so sweet and poor", I told her that she didn't have to eat "them" if she didn't want to. She thought about this and decided her love for nuggets and bacon was greater than that. But I am expecting this conversation to be a part of meal preparation for some time to come. Josie is a PETA person, she just doesn't know it yet.

Have you explained scrambled eggs to her yet? This should be an interesting conversation!

ha! So cute! It's darling what kids come up with! Funny, I have pictures from my mission where I played with a whole chicken (flapped it's wings) before we cooked it for dinner. I hadn't ever really cut apart a whole chicken before then, and aside from helping with Thanksgiving dinner preparations never really skinned a bird before, either! What great memories... but I don't think I ever added a gender to that poor little chicken! :)
