Headache Averted.

A great never-fail use for good 'ole duct tape (duck brand, or whatever).

I just couldn't get the girls to bring down the decibels today, so I found my trusty duct tape, told them I had a surprise for them...they came a' running and this is what they got.

"My, you look great in your duct tape tape today!"

It reminded me of when I'd take Lexie & Izzie to the NICU together on Sunday mornings. They were bound to squabble or screech over something and I couldn't risk being asked to leave dear sweet baby Viviana...

So I would take the name tag stickers that were given us upon security check-in and cover their mouths with them. We made a game out of it and they responded very well.  Yup, got lots of looks, but I'm certain many-a-mom thanked me under their breath for saving them from a headache due to screeching-Izzie or 'can't hear how loud I really am' Lexie. And it worked...everytime. They even looked forward to it and fought over what color they'd get. I think my mom thought of it...I can't even take the credit.

Thank you, name tag stickers. And thank you, duck brand duct tape.

Headache averted.

I got so tired of Jesse pestering his siblings the other day that I tied up his hands and taped his mouth so he couldn't poke or tease. It worked for a few minutes! I think whatever helps to keep you sane!!!

I can't believe you "outted" me. LOL

Well, it did skip a generation - you never got "ducted".

My mother use to use old fashion masking tape - just a few wet licks and it would come lose, but not off. I thought I'd gotten the upper hand --- I didn't make any noise because I didn't want MY secret out ..... Mom's are always one step ahead aren't they!

You could market "Kid Mouth Bling" I know a lot of mothers who would buy it. Make it in different colors and patterns - just "Shaylafy" it.

You can call it "Silence the Quakers" tape (get it duck...even thought it is duct)

FYI - bandaids don't work - I tried that in '72...

I'm certain you meant 'Silence the QuaCkers not Quakers.' I don't think George & Char would appreciate that! You're funny just flowing with ideas this morn!

Hilarious!! If Nate finds out about this he will jump on it! Too bad we didn't know about it a few years ago! I am so glad we have found each other again! Your family, you and your blog is BEAUTIFUL!! You are quite an inspiration!

Yep , I meant Quackers - glad you can read my mind!

another idea - have the kids color on their own tape - before they put it on - this will make them "take possession" and take pride in wearing their own art :)

Be sure they don't try this in Viv's - it would cover her nose too!

Love it. Everyone always talks about it, but you actually took action. You've inspired me.

Mattie saw this picture when I was reading your post, and she asked me what was on their mouths. I told her and asked her it she wanted me to do that to her, and she got a freaked out look, and told me "NO"! Sometimes I am seriously tempted!

Ah, good ol' child abuse. I'm kidding, that is SO funny. What's especially funny is how happy they look with the duct tape on their mouths! They're so stinkin cute.

oh, I LOVE duct tape! It seriously is 'the force'; I use it to keep Lincoln's diaper on at naps and night (he takes it off constantly), and now I tape his light switch because now he turns that on after lights out! Duct tape is so awesome.
