Lexie quickly learned that pretty, curled hair comes at a price...when done the hard way with a large, pink, lovely comb. I wasn't home, so she wore this 'do' for 3 hours waiting...and I'm sure curling and twisting it even more, because who likes to wear a 10 inch comb right smack in the middle of the head? Apparently Lexie does. At least it matches her glasses.
That is wound around about 6 times. Oops. I quickly called to get Ama's advice on this 'new do'...laughing all the way , cause it was so tightly wound. I could just see that Lex would soon get bangs (and shuddered at the thought)--so laughter is better than despair, but it made Lex cry even harder...and pick her nose apparently, all the while exclaiming,
"I'm not going to be pretty anymore, my hair will be ugly! I'm never going to kindergarten!"
A pair of surgical sheers was the answer--we cut the comb to pieces until we could pull that last hair off the 'curling comb.'
Crisis fixed! It worked! Thanks, Ama. Lexie got her curls---or rather, kinky messy knotted hair. I don't think Lex will touch a comb for at least a year now.

Someday she will laugh at this too, probably not for awhile yet. Oh the pains girls have to endure to "look pretty" (giggle) Just wait until she insists on shaving her legs.....
Oh my goodness! Poor thing - at least she didn't cut her own hair..that would've been worse. Your a magician for getting that thing out.
My kids were looking at that picture saying, "OW!" and also, "Why would you curl your hair with a comb?" Poor thing, at least you saved her hair.
I remember doing that with my own hair! And ultimately I DID end up with bangs. Not cute bangs, chunky, long, half-my-hair bangs. I neve tried curling with a comb again! Oh the pains/joys of girlhood! :)
That was a really smart solution - cut the comb not the hair. I'll have to remember that one.
That post was so funny! I was crying because I was laughing so hard. Poor Lexie! But, wow what a smart idea to cut the comb and save her hair. Mattie got a curling brush stuck in her hair once, but luckily it was when she was so little, with really fine hair. I was able to get it out!
Ow!!! Good thinking in saving her hair by cutting the comb. Funny but so sad too!
I remember using a round brush and rolling it all the way to my scalp......let's just say that was not fun to get out! What a great idea to cut the comb! I am glad you didn't have to cut that beautiful hair!
