Today....I am thankful that we have a PAIR of eyes. I am grateful that we have competent Docs to diagnose and fix these earthly bodies that sometimes challenge us!
Last month Lexie had her big kindergarten well-check. During the routine eye check, Lexie failed the simple test on her left eye. I thought for certain it was just because it was blurry from covering it while checking her right eye. NOPE. We saw our Optometrist and indeed...Lexie is considered legally blind in her left eye. Refractive Amblyopia. But her amblyopic eye never drifts off the way some do. How blessed she is that it was caught this early-on because now she has the chance to repair it before her more permanent vision sets in about age ten.
So now her eyes need some bling! (This pic is before her transition lenses were put in the frames). She needs to patch her good eye for 4 months or so to try and strengthen her left one and get that brain signal to start firing again. You better bet I'll figure out a way to make eye patching fabulously fashionable! The hunt for the perfect pair of glasses wasn't easy...she's quite opinionated - I experienced some major dejavu...perhaps my clone? She's darling in her pink/purple sparkle glasses. Perfect for my little five year old princess. And thank heavens it was caught before Kindergarten began. Who said coke bottle glasses couldn't be worn with great style & finesse?

She looks darling in them. I was surprised how quite she was in the video chat last night - is she shy about showing off her new bling?
I am glad you caught it on time. Those exams they give the kids are so great. One year they tested Camryn's hearing and she couldn't hear out of one because of the wax build up - who knew. Anyway a friend of mine had a similar problem with her little girl and a friend made a pirate princess patch - I thought it was cute so here is her link

Just an idea!
Oh my she is the cutest little girl ever in those glasses! She is so pretty, and I love the pink glasses. Its great that you guys were able to catch her problem early on. I started wearing glasses in 4th grade, and oh how I wish they would have had cute frames back then!
she is so, so, SO cute in glasses! She'd be cute in a paper bag too. She has great taste (gee, I wonder where she gets THAT) and picked out fabulous one!!!
i'm so glad they "caught" this early on. what a blessing.
super cute specs! I can't wait to see the bedazzled patch! And she's such a cute girl, she can totally pull it off-and will probably have all her friends wearing one just to be like her:)
So cute! And SOOOO much better than what I had to deal with around her age! I'm so glad you can give her ultimate bling! :)
you are so right on, glasses are soo not what they used to be. She is adorable and will be able to pull off any pair she chooses and i'm sure she'll start some new trend with the patch she's going to be wearing!
Well, the girl is just adorable. What a cutie!

When we moved from Fresno to Westlake at the beginning of my Freshman year, my dad tried for weeks to find a rental to house us six monkeys. Impossible. Landlords heard "six kids" and freaked out. So my dad finally did something sneaky....he said he only had 3 kids. I remember the three oldest kids (myself included) being dropped off at the Westlake Elementary playground to hang out for an hour or so until my parents had the keys from the landlord and they could finally bring us back to the "new" house. Crazy.
Great glasses Lexie! She looks adorable. A little bling always makes a girl feel fabulous.
So funny--Lexie and Avery are TWINS in so many ways--Avery was very opinionated about finding her glasses too! Those pink ones are so chic! Good luck with the patching--it's not easy (mostly 'cause Avery's mom forgets sometimes) and you feel so bad for them having to go around trying to see out of their "bad eye"...I too am soo glad we caught Avery's eye problems this young--now I pray that we can correct it! We need to get those two spectacle-wearing princesses together to play (and you can help me make some eye patches 'cause the sticky ones are uncomfortable and expensive ;)
SO cute! My girls WISH they needed glasses! Everytime they go to Claires they are trying them on! She looks adorable!
She is adorable in those pink frames! I can't wait to see what you can do to an eyepatch! So, you are moving? I'm sorry you have to go - I know you love it where you are...but Temecula is not too far and CHEAPER!!!! Keep me posted!
She looks adorable! Some girls are sassy enough to make glasses look terrific - looks like Lexie is one of them! Makes me want to get a pair myself...(um, not joking, I think glasses like that are super cute!)
She looks adorable! I love her glasses.
