Winter Spirit

In California in order to feel wintry and festive we have to pretend.  We have to ignore the fact that it's really 7o something amazing degrees outside with blue skies in December.  We have to overlook that the kids wear shorts to school most days and do not wear jackets 90% of the time.  In fact, we have to declare "winter spirit day" at our elementary school so that we can wear our hats, scarves, and gloves... during the middle of winter... in 7o something degrees... with our shorts... so that we look like a bunch of freaks.

UPDATE:  Apparently I jinxed San Diego ...either that, or I just

don't look at the weather report.  We are getting slammed today by wintry weather conditions.  55 degrees, pouring sheets, gloomy skies, wet, wet, wet.  We San Diegans are just not used to the rain.  Or driving in the rain.  We really don't know what to do with ourselves when the blue skies

disappear.  waaa waaa waaa.  But it is a nice refreshing change of pace.  See?  We actually do have seasons.

Our weather was the same today minus the rain. It was SO nice! I remember it getting chilly (40's) in Agoura and that was winter. Silly CA.
Spirit Days out here are usually to support our sports teams. The kids wear their Pats or Red Sox shirts and garb during the play-offs on game days.
I'm surprised that growing up we didn't have Dodger Spirit Day (at least I don't recall it). Maybe Bray can start that up if he's on school council...or Padres, Chargers, etc. In the meantime, "Go Winter!" (said with an expression like Kenz's). I'd happily pass on winter.

We're cold here in Austin, but it's similar to where you are. I like the warm weather better, but it's nice to get just a little bit of cold...just a little.

The weatherman just have heard that Ama is on her way - I've yet to experience a warm day in San Diego! Tonight we crept up the mountain (hwy6 & 89) and into our Sanpete Valley at 25 miles an hour in a white out - the snow plows hadn't even driven the route - MISERABLE!!!! 55' sounds warm and wonderful to me!

It was so darn cold today! Not fun taking the kids to school in the rain! I am such a baby and so spoiled with our Cali. weather! It is fun to have a change...makes it feel so Christmasy (sp?)

This Californian still doesn't know what to do in cold weather even though I've lived in Utah for...what...almost 8 years now! We got a ton of snow this morning, and as I trugged into the office, my sneakers soaking, I thought for the first time in my life, "Hmm...maybe I should get some boots." I'm a slow learner.

Sounds a lot like FL! We have been having cold snap after cold snap, and now a week before Christmas it is in the 80s. I love the warm weather, but I want it to be just a little chilly for Christmas! (Plus the heat is killing me being SO pregnant!)

Mons and Kenz look great in their winter get-ups!
