We charged $10 for those that RSVP'd to help put a dent in the cost of supplies--because it sure added up fast! We instructed them to glam and glitter....some got it and participated and others either thought we were just crazy or childish...or just didn't feel like puttin' on the ritz...and that's okay too-we're just glad they came!
I made these cutest invitations (I know, I'm not being humble...c'mon, they were super duper cute!) And of course, glittered them all up and added some mystery to our party by keeping everyone guessing. Probably because if we said "we're making glitter cups" they'd look at us and run the other way. Really, until you see them and get your hands on a glittered cup with all the embellishments, you just don't get it. So we had to keep the mystery.
After we decided to host the party, Malisa found out from a girlfriend in Utah that has done these cups before what actually was involved and it wasn't as easy as one would think! Not only did we have to buy industrial amounts of glitter, mod podge, & ribbon, but Malisa had to drive all the way to stinking HEMET to the nearest Sonic to get a couple sleeves of 44 oz and 32 oz cups. They're heavy styrofoam so they won't sweat and they fit perfectly together so you can glitter the 44 oz and put the 32 oz. one inside, lidded with your drink of choice.
We had everyone bring an appetizer to share and their $10 'cover charge' along with an apron. Each girlfriend took a number as they came, in order of arrival from 1 to 24. We really wish we could have just invited EVERYONE...but really, we would not have slept even one hour in the last 72 had we done even one more cup! It was a three-step and watch mod podge dry in between kind of thing. So after appetizers, the girlfriend who arrived first got a great consolation prize of a tiara, glammed jewelry bobble, and glitter star stick. Of course, no one still knew why these were of upmost importance! Malisa unveiled the glitter cups and then it made a little more sense to everyone---and then we showed them our glammed up, glittered, and embellished cups to carry in style wherever we go. They all got to choose their cups in the order they arrived (there were three base colors with several glitter colors in each for depth).
And the girlfriend who glammed and glittered themselves for the party the best (as voted by the other girls) also got the little consolation prize.

We modpodged scrapbook paper onto initials, tied gobs of ribbon and glued away to make our cups the most glittericious and fabulous! It was so fun to see the creativity flow and the end results were fantasticly wonderful in every way! Call us crazy, but truly, who knew glitter cups could be an addicting accessory? Or even an accessory at all! We have already started planning our next glammed up and glittericious girlfriend party.
Until next time.....
Your glammed up and glittericious girlfriend,
Glittericious....can the word that's really not even a word be overused? hmmmmm. I'm still lovin' it!

You guys are the most FUn hostesses EVER! And you guys really put together a super cute party-- I didn't think you were crazy OR childish...Im just glitter-glam-challenged! We all appreciate the planning and work that went into a FABULOUS night together! I too can't wait for the next one! Love ya...
You two are Over-The-Top-Fun! Thanks for throwing a Christmas party I will never forget. What a fabulous time with fabulous friends!
I grin everytime I see my cup! I've been drinking from it ALL DAY!!!
Thanks for the wonderful night and for voting me the most "glittericious"! I DID look pretty fabulous.
Wow! Your Christmas trimmings in the house look so beautiful and the party, well...just wow. Do you actually sleep at night? You amaze me, I don't know how you do so much!
Your party was fabulous! You and Malisa are crazy staying up to all hours of the morning. Thanks for the great time. It was such a fun surprise. I look forward to the next one. Have a great holiday!
My new favorite word is "Glitter"!!! What a fabulous party. I went to sleep with my cup last night because I love it so much (J/K). You and Malisa are the best!
How fun!!! Why can't I live by you? I'd probably drive you nuts, coming over all the time and stealing all your wonderful, creative ideas!
You know that this would be Matt's biggest nightmare come true?! That boy HATES glitter! I love on the other hand, and it looks like it was a super fun time!
My girls would be dying to join in. I'm completely not glam, but am glad to know glitter addicts like you (& I'm sure I'm raising at least one:)) so I can get in on the fun once in a while.
For being sleep deprived you look pretty darn cute!
XO!
I read it, I was amazed and impressed by it, BUT I still don't know that I completely understand WHAT IT IS. But I can see you girls had a wonderful time. So, good work giving everyone such sparkly joy.
JULIE!!!
I know, super wild, crazy, and over the top. I'm really NOT an over the top person, but I loved doing this and making something so glittericious. And I'm not a glitter girl really....jewelry, YES--most always. But I don't own glitter makeup (my girls do though)! So, it's a 44 oz. sonic cup that we mod podged and put 2 layers of a mixture of glitter colors on, then finished it with mod podge so you can handle it without getting glitter all over yourself. Then you put a 32 oz sonic cup inside (lidded) with your drink of choice (me, water--unless it's dp once in a while, I'm a water girl). So you walk around with this over the top glammed out and decorated glitter up rather than a boring water bottle or plain chevron 44 ouncer! Yes, I know...crazy, but it WAS so much fun to be over the top like that. I laughed at myself for even throwing this party, but my cup rules and is pretty darn fabulous. So you said it just right...sparkly joy! You KNOW you want one. Hope you're having a merry week before Christmas! Where's my card, girl?!
THIS is the Shay I know...it's a PERFECT party theme for you. Wish I could've been there!
Ooooh, Noooow I get it! Some of us just need a little more explanation and hand holding than others. I would love a sparkly cup! And your letter is coming.....it is written and just needs to be printed up (and addressed, and stamped, etc.) I wanted to get them done earlier, of course, but I keep having other fun Christmasy projects lining up in front of the cards. But soon!
(Btw, just forget about the konchar7 email for now--I need to get my laptop fixed, so go with the pie.konchar remax one.)
And yes, I guess I AM a glitter girl. All the moms thought I was a little lolo for hosting cookie parties for 5 year olds, but who can resist sprinkles? And yes, my red stocking on the right of the mantle was positively dripping with sequins. I just don't dress sparkly. I'm too boring for that.
Thanks Shay & Malisa! The party was over the top and I loved every minute of it.
This story is for all you Glammed up Glittericious Gals who want to take it to the next level (giggle)
I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the afternoon and that morning I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30am, I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45am
The trip to his office took about 35minutes, so I didn't have time to spare. As most woman do I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash "in that area" to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car
and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in.
Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?" I didn't respond. After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal...some shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mommy, where's my washcloth?"I told her to get another she from the cupboard. She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.
I banned glitter from our home when you were growing up, Shay. Your five brothers never complained, and now I can see I deprived my princess of the joy of glittering (but I think you've made up for it now!) Glitter takes on a life of it's own and multiples - you will NEVER be able to clean it all up!
Hi Shay~ seriously too cute! how fun, wish i lived closer to share in your fun creative nights!
You guys are tooooo funny! What a great idea to have lots of silly fun!
