Simple Gratitudes 2008

Last year I started a little blogging tradition to post my simple gratitudes the week of Thanksgiving. This year I'm feeling a little more organized... and want to make gratitude a part of my daily blog. I love the idea others have had of listing a couple of things at the end of each post they're grateful for that day. So I think I'll adopt that tradition! Sometimes it will be a worthy of a whole post, like today. If you know me, you know I'm verbose--I say things in 1000 words that could probably be sufficiently expressed in 10. But today I'm feeling grateful for quite a few blessings.

In particular...

I {love} watching my little ones sleep--their breathing patterns, the calmness across their beautiful innocent little faces and how serene they are cuddled up, or strewn across their beds.

We have three tummy sleepers and three back sleepers... Some like cuddling up to blankets, others don't like blankets much at all. We have screamers and snorers, tossers, teeth-grinders and deep sleepers.

Perhaps the greatest thing about watching them sleep is that the frustrations or chaos of the day just goes away and like a rebirth I am filled with {pure love} and meekness as I behold my little ones and see within them the wonders of God. I love to behold this sleeping tenderness that reminds me of the sheer joy this blessing brings. I {love} my little ones...all six of them. So today, I'm ever grateful for my six sweet sleeping children.

Sometimes I can't mix the words 'sweet' and children when they're awake. Enough said!

My favorite memory as a mommie of 6 too, were the times I spent on my knees at the bedside of each child. A sacred time when I thanked my Heavenly Father for each of you blessing my life and asking Him to bless each of you. Motherhood is a humbling and sometimes exhausting experience, one I still cherish every day.

What a sweet post! Those pictures of the kids are so cute. I know exactly what you mean, when your child goes to sleep, and nothing else from the day seems to matter anymore! I love to watch Mattie when she sleeps.

Sleeping babes does bring on a sense of peace and gratitude for me too.
I love the gratitude end posts and may take on a form of that on our blog too.
Speaking of gratitude for sleepy heads, my babe is asleep and Cutie is on the computer, so I need to go make some home progress.
Loves to your kids! PS. If Bray isn't on the "everyone" email I just sent out, will you share that with him?

Yes, children and babies are adorable while they sleep. Why are adults so not adorable while asleep?

Love this post. Sleeping children has something about it, doesn't it? And your beautiful children are images of angels while sleeping!

Interesting that the back sleepers are the oldest three and the tummy sleepers are the youngest three. I am definitely a tummy sleeper AND in the bottom half of the kids.
