What is a girl to do with a head of hair so long, thick, and coarse as mine? Certainly you won't find me parading through the streets...naked...on horseback for a cause like Lady Godiva. Although, I am actually related to her...your gee whiz for the day, I know. I've always joked that I got my hair from her. (And how handsome are my boys?! I was pinching Bray's hiney...thus the laughing out loud and squinty eyes!) Back to my hair...really, I have enough to outfit 3 others with a decent head of hair as well. I chopped it short one other time when I was preggers with Monson...didn't love it...missed the length immediately. It's tough to work with a mane this thick! Sad, but true...it's been my ID for so long. But this time, I'm doing it right, and for the right cause...at the famous and cutting edge (aka expensive) Jet Rhys salon. (Thanks, Erin, for your stylist!)
I felt inspired one day and just decided that I needed to share a little bit of what I've been blessed with. Silly? I don't think so. And it's a tough thing for me to just finally take the plunge and do, no turn-backs! What better way to physically give of myself than to give my locks to a little girl who really really needs hair? Certainly I have some to spare and it's all for a grander purpose...or so I'll just keep telling myself. Locks of Love. Curt has joked that I should donate instead to "locks for Curt." hehehe. Perhaps I could start my own hair club for men. Grow it out...cut it and sell or donate to men in need too---maybe I'm on to something! haha
So, friends & fam...if it doesn't look super smashing, shhhhh....don't tell me! I'm not doing it to 'lift' myself or update my 35 year old look...even though it could use an update, I'm sure. It's all for a grander purpose. It's my little service--or at least I'll think of it that way.
Lexie has long beautiful hair and decided she wanted to join me in this' venture.'
Only I'm not paying Jet Rhys prices for her four-year-old little bob. She wants it cut "just like cousin Momo's." I've given her plenty of opportunities to 'bow out' of our little dealio...but she REALLY says "mom, I want to give my hair to a little girl who doesn't have any" ...said with puppy dog eyes. She's excited too.
Good thing for us...it will grow back- someday. So tonight I'm grateful for my hair--silly, I know, but true. Who knows how daring I'll feel tomorrow in the chair...or what my stylist will think up for me. No take-backs now! They have a 24 hour cancellation policy!

Christina did Locks of Love, and I'm sure my girls will do it again...such a good idea. I think for the kids it's a great way to remember my mom who lost her hair battling cancer. They have empathy for girls going through the same thing. When Christina donated they weren't taking processed hair, just "virgin hair," but maybe that's changed.
You'll look smashing, I'm sure! Good luck. Grab a big 'ol serving of ice cream to calm your nerves:)
You will be a HOT MOMMA with your new do. Can't wait to see.
Just Do It! There, did that give you the courage?
I know what you are talking about, and mine isn't nearly as long or luscious as yours! Good for you. I'm sure you'll still look beautiful, and it will be an easy pound or two off the scale, no doubt! (Something I always consider in situations such as this!) Of course, we will all expect pictures and a delightful post as a result. Good luck!
Oh I'm soooooooooo excited to see your new do! It is a shock at first and there are many times I miss my locks, but I always think of some cute little girl that is enjoying a wig from my hair. Whatever girl gets the wig of your amazing hair is one lucky girl indeed! You will look gorgeous no matter what. I'm so glad you're donating it that's awesome!!
Good luck, can't wait to see the new do!
I am so excited to see the results!
By the way, you'd look pretty even if you were bald...so I'm SURE you'll look smashing!!!
By the way...you look SKINNY MINNY in that picture!!!
It's the bra...it elongates my torso so really, it's an illusion:) But thanks.
I can't wait to see Lexie's hair, and it makes me feel a little better about having Mattie's hair cut off, to know that Lexie wants her's like MoMo's! You and Lex are doing such a wonderful thing. My sis did it when she was in college and loved the experience of giving her hair to a little girl. Good luck!
Just be careful, once you cut it it gets easier and easier to go shorter and shorter until you look like me.
