I left the cut and style all in my stylist's hands after chatting with him for a few minutes (very eccentric place). He pulled it back and chopped it into two ponies...was going to do four, but the layers up front were quite a bit shorter. A FOOT gone x two ponies! Hashem continued to cut, and cut and cut. I was SO BRAVE! Yes, I know I sound like a 3-year-old. I could have produced 15" for each pony, I'm sure. I would have gone way shorter, but he thought this was the length for me. It's still so thick and I worry it will look bushy, but it's a very different change that will take some getting used to!
What my family is saying:
Brayden--"EWwwww. I don't like it. It looks ugly." (he gets his tact from me).
McKenzie--"AHHHhhh!" (she actually screamed when she saw me...it's that much of a shocker). "I love it, Mom! You look so pretty! But you don't look familiar anymore. Now you look like Allison!"
Monson--big grin. I asked him what he thought..."I don't know." I can tell he has his Dad's tact...doesn't want to say anything negative, but can't quite commit to liking it.
Lexie--"Wow, Mom, I want mine just like yours! You look like Michele" (I asked her...which Michele are you talking about--she said, Michele Hazen....I chuckled...guess that's you, Clifford girl!)
Izzie--"You're so pretty"
Curt--After holding his hands over his eyes (I think he expected to be disappointed)...he took them off and said, "wow, it actually looks really nice on you."
So, I guess I know whose opinions I like and who (Bray) I'll just ignore:) hahaha
I actually don't head-over-heels love it either, but on the bright side...I dropped a couple pounds today (I'm with you there, Julie Konchar!) It was for a great cause, and I have a lot less hair for Vivie to pull, plus I'll keep 100% cooler this summer lying on the beach sipping my lemonade...okay, not really lying on the beach sipping lemonade...more like running around after Vivie pulling sand, seaweed and rocks out of her mouth. Sidenote...the beach IS NOT a relaxing thing usually. And yes, they will accept my donation even though my hair is processed somewhat. I had way more bleach put in it this last time for our family pictures, but normally they use mainly color, and only a few strands with bleach, which they don't pull through to the end anyway, so I hope a few little girls will have very nice, thick, wigs to help put a smile on their faces! Excuse the self-portrait...
Lexie's up next...

I LOVE IT!
I think you look absolutely fabulous.
If McKenzie thinks you look like me...and Brayden thinks it's ugly...does that mean Brayden thinks I'm ugly??? J/K
Funny how your "short" 'do is my long 'do. Did you save some for me to make a "piece"???
Gorgeous! I love it. Welcome to the short hair club. Although, I don't know if I would consider your hair short. It will feel weird the first time you wash it but look on the bright side, you'll save on those expensive hair products.
You go girl!
Your new do looks great on you... still long too! Locks of love... good thing to do. I had Katrina, Brent's niece Breanna and Serra V. in the car one day... all three had done the "deed". Pretty great thing to teach the kids especially as they understand where their hair is going.
oh, I like it a lot. It really does update the look. And you will love all the freedom. i felt the same when I chopped off a bunch of my hair a few months ago. I think it really look great!
Wow! I have never seen you without your really long hair! It looks great!
It looks sooooo cute! I really think that it looks great on you. Its not as short as I thought that it was going to be! I think that you look awesome. Can't wait to see Lexie's new do!
I think you look sooooo good!!! Good for you, so do you think you'll keep? It will be much cooler for the summer.
WAY cute! That is definitely short for you, but long for the rest of us:) I think it looks great on you and I love the way he framed your face. Thumbs up!
You should have had the ponies made into a wig for Brayden for next Halloween. Instead of looking like Ama he'd look like you.
Very pretty. The layers are great. It isn't short by any means though! Medium lenght. It is true though that cutting your hair off like that is scary, I cut off only 3 inches and it felt strange. Now your family pics aren't current, guess you need some more :) They are beautiful by the way, your family is gorgeous!
Oh I LOVE it! What a fun change! It really is sooooo much cooler for the summer. You don't realize how long and hot it is until it's gone. And it takes less styling time so that's a plus. I want to see more pics of it! Sooooo cute!
Shay, it looks great! I know, hard to get used to. My hair was cut by 6 inches recently as a sort of bad hair intervention (all that hair I lost on South Beach two years ago had grown in about half way to the end of my hair) so I know how odd it is to suddenly not have "long hair" anymore. I still use too much shampoo occasionally, out of habit. But you look fantastic!
Thanks for all the nice compliments...I know I totally fished for them! But really, it feels like a super short cut--at least from what I came from (for the last 35 years!) I would have gone way shorter, but oh well...maybe next time.
Super, super, super cute - just what I would want if I could get my hair that long...I can't stand trying to get through the in-between length of my shorter hair whenever I think I want to try to grow it. And I love the comments - Brayden is just like my Parker, "You look weird." Love it.
You look darling with long or short hair. The new do will definitely save you some styling time and keep you cooler! :)
I love it! It looks refreshing!
I haven't been on in a while...I'm totally shocked! You look awesome! I think it fits you really well - do you like it or are you already contemplating growing it out again?
I think it's a darling style! Although once having super long hair I know that is a difficult thing to do. As much as I admire other womens short hair styles, long hair is just "me."
